In Wanlockhead, visit the Lead Mining Museum and walk the highest part of the Southern Upland Way.
In Leadhills, visit the Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway (Scotland's highest adhesion railway), the Leadhills Library (the oldest subscription library in the British Isles), the famous Leadhills Mining Bears, and walk the Leadhills Historic Trail (trail leaflets available at the Hopetoun Arms Hotel in Leadhills).
On Lowther Hill, you will see Lowther Hill Ski Club's facilities comprising a 475 metre-long ski tow and associated Engine Hut, and a portacabin at the foot of the ski slope which is used as a temporary bothy until the construction of the clubhouse in 2016.
